Born and raised in the wild expanse of Idaho, Vanessa grew up amid vast skies and untamed landscapes that continue to shape the emotional and aesthetic core of her work. The rugged poetry of the American West and the berceuse of the Irish countryside has informed the spirit of dialogue in her work; a narrative of tradition and reinvention. 

Rooted in a reverence for the natural world, her practice explores the boundaries between memory and material. Through reimagined classical motifs and contemporary techniques, Vanessa invites viewers to reflect on the familiar with a reawakened yearning for connection; to see myth in moss, serenity in seedlings, and the sempiternal continuity of change.

 When not painting, she is often found hiking through forests or foraging along the coast, gathering both materials and metaphors from the living world.

Her art is, at its heart, a conversation with nature and time. She seeks to translate the abstract gifts of ancestral communities in a quiet effort to make the eternal tangible once more.
